A whole Egyptian street comes to life across this runner: cats on the windowsills, open shutters, a leaning bicycle, and the food of high summer — okra, grapes, garlic and fish strung up to dry in the sun. It's the season our grandmothers knew, when everything got hung out to dry and the whole street smelled of it.
Finely embroidered on natural cotton from Akhmim, Upper Egypt — a region celebrated for its textiles — with a fringed edge and little pops of red and green.
